Nalanda Public School, Cuttack began its journey on 12 March 2003, as a modest institution housed in a rented building with just 22 students, guided by the commitment and values instilled by Chairperson Ms. Jajaswini Pattanayak, whose belief in intellectual empowerment is mirrored in the school’s motto: “Knowledge rules the world”.

In March 2008, the school took a significant step forward by relocating to its own purpose-built campus in Bhatapada, Salepur, just 15 km from Cuttack, offering a serene and focused learning environment, fulfilling Ms. Pattanayak’s vision for a nurturing educational space .

Recognizing its burgeoning academic promise, the school secured CBSE affiliation in May 2014, now offering education through the Senior Secondary level (Class XII). It is officially recognized by the Government of Odisha and holds the necessary NOC from the state’s Education Department .

Today, Nalanda Public School thrives with approximately 1,700 students across all grades, achieving outstanding academic results—students have consistently topped in CBSE board examinations at the district level .

The school’s infrastructure has advanced significantly, featuring modern Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Computer Science laboratories, a Wi-Fi-enabled campus, a well-stocked library, boarding facilities, and a reliable transport network, covering students within a 15–20 km radius .

Embracing holistic education, the school offers a rich array of co-curricular activities including yoga, chess, music, vocational training, NCC & Scouts, sports, cultural celebrations, and day-boarding or remedial support for students needing extra guidance .

In August 2025, Dr. Nirkesh Sharma—with extensive experience and qualifications—joined the NPS family as Principal, taking forward this legacy under capable academic leadership .
